What is dental sealants?
Dental Sealants is a thin plastic coating that covers the teeth and fills in the groves on the chewing surface of your teeth.

Why is dental sealants important for my kids?
Dental sealants can prevent the majority of tooth decay in children who often have trouble brushing their back teeth (molars) where most teens and kids get cavities.

When should my child get dental sealants?
The best time to have your teeth sealed is right after the molars come into the mouth to help prevent decay. Molars come into a child’s mouth in two waves, with the first being around 6 years of age and the second around 12 years of age. We recommend sealing after both phases of molar growth.

What is the process for placing dental sealants?
We start with cleaning the tooth, then we apply special gel to the surface of the tooth, gel is washed, tooth is dried and then the sealant is applied to the tooth. A directed light is used on the tooth to help harden the sealant. The whole process is very quick and 100% painless. Plus, the dental sealant blends in with the tooth and appears “invisible”.

We offer dental sealants at our Downtown Vancouver (Coal Harbour) Dental office. Call today to book an appointment.
